Rachel Trenaman established herself as one of Australia's emerging allrounders through her batting and leg-spin bowling option from a young age. Her cricket journey gained rapid momentum through the New South Wales pathway, leading to her senior domestic debut for the NSW Breakers in late 2016 at just 15 years old.
She was appointed captain of the Australia Under-19 team for their 50-over tour of South Africa in early 2018, where she posted scores of 122 and 91. Shortly after, she earned a contract with Cricket Australia's National Performance Squad.
Her initial Women's Big Bash League experiences came with the Sydney Thunder, where she featured across multiple campaigns, including being part of their WBBL title-winning squad in 2020-21. Looking to expand her role and secure regular opportunities at the top of the batting order, she made the decision to shift states and sign with Tasmania in the Women's National Cricket League, while also joining the Hobart Hurricanes in the WBBL. Despite experiencing a significant setback in late 2021 when an ACL injury ruled her out of an entire season, her technical core allowed her to return to peak form in domestic competition.
Playing for the Tasmanian Tigers, Trenaman developed into a dependable run-scorer in 50-over cricket. The 2025-26 WNCL season served as a standout period in her career, highlighted by back-to-back centuries for Tasmania, including a score of 139 against Western Australia and another 103 against the Australian Capital Territory. Her strong domestic form earned her selection for the Australia A tour to India in September 2026, where she featured in representative fixtures against India A and continued her progression within Australia's national setup.
