Hailing from Port Campbell on Victoria’s south-west coast, Milly Illingworth has rapidly emerged as one of the most exciting young fast-bowling prospects in Australian cricket. Known for her raw pace and a unique, slingy bowling action, she has quickly transitioned from a standout junior to a key player in domestic and franchise leagues.
Illingworth is distinct for her slingy, high-intensity action, which she famously modeled after studying vintage footage of legendary Australian quick Jeff Thomson. Despite being relatively short in stature, she generates significant bounce and speed.
She made her debut in the Women's National Cricket League (WNCL) in February 2023 against Western Australia, making an immediate impact by taking 4/41. She was signed as a teenager for the 2023 season by Melbourne Stars in the WBBL. In her debut match against the Sydney Sixers, she claimed her first wicket and impressed with her consistent pace.
Milly moved across town to join the Renegades, where she has become a vital part of their pace attack, helping the team reach the WBBL|10 Final at the MCG. Her rising reputation saw her signed by the Mumbai Indians for the 2026 Women's Premier League season.Â
