Amanjot’s cricketing journey began in Punjab, where she made her domestic debut during the 2017–18 season. She later moved to Chandigarh, where her leadership shone through as captain, before returning to Punjab in the 2022–23 season for a challenge in a more competitive setup. Her performances in domestic tournaments, highlighted by over 190 runs in six innings during the 2022 Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, showcased her match-winning potential and paved the way for her national recognition.
Amanjot burst onto the international scene in 2023 during a T20I tri-series in South Africa. She announced herself with a Player-of-the-Match unbeaten 41 off 30 balls on debut - a calm, calculated innings that rescued India from a tricky chase. Her ODI debut followed in the same year against Bangladesh, where she delivered a memorable performance by taking 4 wickets for 31 runs, marking the second-best bowling figures by an Indian on ODI debut. Amanjot has featured in both T20I and ODI formats and was part of India’s squad for the 2023 Asian Games. She's continued to grow, notably scoring her maiden T20I half-century during India’s 2025 tour of England. In the very next ODI series, she capped off a strong chase by hitting consecutive boundaries off Kate Cross to seal India’s win, positioning herself as a reliable finisher in crunch situations.
Mumbai Indians saw her all-round promise and snapped her up in the inaugural WPL auction in 2023. Despite opportunities that season and the next, she truly announced herself in WPL 2025. In a standout game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Amanjot inspired a thrilling win with both ball and bat - her spell of 3/22 combined with an unbeaten 34 off 27 balls helped MI snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. She was also the recipient of the Emerging Player of the Season award in WPL 2025 - a crowning recognition for her breakthrough campaign.
Following her breakout performance in the 2025 Women's Premier League (WPL) and her pivotal role in India’s subsequent international successes, Amanjot Kaur has established herself as a premier seam-bowling all-rounder. During the 2025 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup, she scored 146 runs and took 6 wickets. She broke a 37-year-old record by becoming the first player in Women's World Cup history to score a half-century while batting at number 8. In the World Cup Final against South Africa, she took a spectacular juggling catch to dismiss Laura Wolvaardt, a moment widely credited with turning the game in India’s favor to secure their maiden title.
