Profile

In a nation that admittedly lacks batsmen possessing the fertile temperament for Test cricket, patient Umar Amin may well be Pakistan’s batting mainstay in the coming years. Similar to an early Rahul Dravid, Umar Amin’s batting while not flair-filled, effectiveness is manifold.

It did come as a surprise when Amin’s debut run came in the Hilali Green ODI colours against Sri Lanka in the 2010 Asia Cup. Never quite managing to get into stride, a combination of bizarre run outs and nerves combined to deny Amin a semblance of adaptability at the top-most level. A brilliant reaction catch to Ricky Pointing’s glace at forward short-leg during Pakistan’s 2010 Test encounter against the may be Amin’s trophy moment in a fledgling career that is yet to take off.
