Saad Bin Zafar, born on November 10, 1986, is a cricketer of Pakistani-Canadian nationality who plays for Canada in international cricket. He currently serves as the captain of the men's national team.
Saad boasts the world record for bowling his full quota of overs (4 overs in a 20-over match) without conceding a run in a men's T20I match. Additionally, he ranks seventh for the highest number of maiden overs bowled in a T20I career. During January 2017, Saad represented the ICC Americas in the 2016–17 Regional Super50 tournament, where he emerged as the top wicket-taker for his team. Throughout that season, he secured a total of 9 wickets.
On June 3, 2018, he was chosen to compete for the Vancouver Knights during the players' draft for the inaugural edition of the Global T20 Canada tournament. In July 2019, he was picked to represent the Amsterdam Knights in the first season of the Euro T20 Slam cricket tournament.
Saad was included in Canada's squad for the 2007–08 ICC Intercontinental Cup in June 2008. He made his international debut on July 4, 2008, against Bermuda. His debut was remarkable, as he impressed by claiming 4 wickets. In December 2009, he was selected for Canada's squad for the 2010 Quadrangular Twenty20 Series in Sri Lanka.
Following that, in January 2010, he was also chosen for Canada's squad for the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier tournament in the United Arab Emirates. He marked his T20 debut against UAE during this qualifier. In April 2015, he staged a comeback to international cricket by being included in Canada's squad for the 2015 ICC Americas Twenty20 Division One tournament.
Saad Bin Zafar was selected for Canada's squad for the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament in the United Arab Emirates in October 2019. He emerged as Canada's top wicket-taker in the tournament, securing 9 dismissals in 5 matches.
In 2022, Saad Bin Zafar was appointed as the captain of Canada's squad for the 2022 Desert Cup T20I Series and for a bilateral three-match 50-over series against Oman. This selection aimed to prepare the team for the culmination of the 2019–2022 ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League.
Saad has graced tournaments like the GT20 and has played for the Toronto Nationals as well as Vancouver Knights. Not only this, the veteran also marked his presence in the Caribbean T20 League for the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
