Profile

A promising wicketkeeper-batsman, Liton Das emerged on the scene after scoring heavily in the age-group cricket. He was included in the team for the 2012 and 2014 Under-19 World Cups and showcased his skills at the bigger stage.

The 2014/15 season of the Dhaka Premier League turned out to be the stepping stone for Liton Das. He finished as the second highest run-scorer in the tournament and followed that up with extraordinary performance in the National Cricket League where he struck five centuries at an astonishing batting average. His compact and correct style of batting was soon rewarded as he was selected in the national team for the first time in the year 2015.

Liton stroked his maiden ODI century in the 2018 Asia Cup final against India and though his team lost, he was given the Man of the Match award for his knock. Yet another innings of substance came from his bat in the 2019 ICC World Cup against West Indies. He scored a 69-ball 94 in a big run chase and was involved in a record partnership with Shakib Al Hasan.

With age on his side, Liton Das is considered to be the apt replacement for Mushfiqur Rahim and given his talent, Bangladesh will benefit from his presence in the longer run.
