Katie Jones is an exceptionally talented and rapidly emerging English wicketkeeper-batter who, at just 20 years old, represents Somerset Women and the England Under-19 setup. A product of the Gloucestershire pathway system, Jones began her cricket journey at Dumbleton Cricket Club before making her senior county debut for Gloucestershire in 2021. Known for her sharp glovework and clean ball-striking, she quickly earned a place in the Western Storm Academy and went on to make her senior regional debut in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy against The Blaze in May 2023.
Jones' rapid development soon brought her recognition on the international youth circuit with England Under-19s. Her international potential was on full display during England's U19 tours and World Cup campaigns, where she captained the side in IT20 fixtures and marked her youth ODI debut against Australia in Galle with an impressive half-century. Her composure under pressure, combined with her ability to influence games with both the bat and behind the stumps, has established her as one of England's most promising emerging wicketkeeping prospects.
Jones' franchise career remains in its early but highly promising stages as she continues to make the transition from top-level domestic cricket to the spotlight of major short-format competitions. Her franchise journey began to take shape through The Hundred, where her sharp wicketkeeping and dynamic batting potential caught the attention of team evaluators. After being selected as an official squad member and later brought in as an injury replacement for Sunrisers Leeds, she became part of an elite setup alongside international stars such as Annabel Sutherland, Phoebe Litchfield and Deepti Sharma. She has also established herself as a frontline wicketkeeper across both the Women's One-Day Cup and the Women's T20 Blast. A long-term contract extension with Somerset through 2028 further underlines the faith placed in her potential. As one of the foundational young talents in Somerset's squad, Jones continues to build a strong platform for a future senior international career
