Anshuman Rath is a left-handed batter and slow left-arm orthodox bowler who made his ODI debut for Hong Kong against Papua New Guinea in 2014, before making his T20I debut against Nepal in 2015. In the same year, he also played his maiden first-class game against UAE in the ICC Intercontinental Cup. He quickly established himself as one of Hong Kong's leading batters, playing a key role in their rise on the associate circuit. Rath's breakthrough international performance came in the 2016-17 period, including a career-best 143* against Papua New Guinea in 2017, while he also registered three wickets for six runs against the Netherlands in the 2017 Desert T20 Challenge.
Rath was part of Hong Kong's historic Asia Cup campaign in 2018 and captained the side against India and Pakistan, having previously become one of the youngest captains in ODI history. He later moved to India and represented Odisha in domestic cricket, playing in the Ranji Trophy and also featuring in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. After stepping away from cricket for a period, he returned to Hong Kong's setup and regained his place in the national side.
His comeback has since produced some of the most eye-catching performances of his career. Rath struck his maiden T20I century against Oman in 2026, scoring 140* from 56 balls, and also made an important contribution during Hong Kong's 2026 Asian Games Men's T20I Qualifier campaign. He scored 266 runs in 5 matches and was subsequently named in the squad for the main tournament.
