11.06pm  Right then, that is it from this game and it is the home side, India who have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Sri Lanka will feel that they can go a step further in the next game and get back on level terms. The second game should be another exciting clash and will take place on Thursday, the 5th of January at the MCA Stadium in Pune. That game will begin at 7 pm IST (1.30 pm GMT) but you can join us early for the build-up. Take care and goodbye!
11.05pm  Hardik Pandya, the Indian skipper, says that he is feeling good physically and it was only a few cramps. Shares that he had not slept well and the fluids got down hence he suffered cramps. Tells that he wants to put his team in challenging situations, especially in these bilateral series, and that will prepare them for the big games. Tells that he just told Shivam Mavi to back his skills and not to have the fear of getting hit. States that if the situation is the same, he (Hardik) will continue to take the new ball as he has worked on swinging the ball.
11.02pm  Deepak Hooda (41* off 23 balls) is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his game-changing knock. Hooda says that he tries to play at any position in the batting order and looks to give his hundred per cent. Adds that he and Axar Patel were talking about getting in a couple of good hits and they would be able to get to 160. Mentions that he wants to perform every time he gets an opportunity and he recently played a lot of spin in domestic cricket because of which he was confident of taking the Lankan spinners on.
10.59pm  Dasun Shanaka, the Sri Lankan captain, says that he is disappointed with the way they finished. Feels that they should have won in style. Mentions that at this venue, the batters should have performed better and crossed the line. Shares that they used the match-ups well with the ball and succeeded. Adds that his top order consists of very talented batters and they are backing them.
10.56pm  Stay tuned for the Presentation ceremony...
10.55pm  Earlier in the game, Dasun Shanaka won the toss and opted to chase. India got off to a breezy start before losing three quick wickets. Ishan Kishan made a fast start and so did Hardik Pandya but the pair got out when India looked to up the ante. Thankfully for India, Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel played quickfire knocks down the order to take the score above 160. For Sri Lanka, the spinners bowled really well and so did Chamika Karunaratne but Kasun Rajitha went for a bit of tap. With an under-par score to chase down on a bit of a tacky surface, the Lankan batters never really looked to be in control. Shivam Mavi exploited this and so did a couple of other pacers. With India cruising, Sri Lanka did launch a counter-attack led by their skipper Dasun Shanaka but ended up on the losing side.
10.51pm  Shivam Mavi comes up for a quick word. Shares that he was struggling with the landing initially and then decided to bowl from the side of the crease. Tells that he has been waiting for 6 years for this moment but he stuck around and put in the hard work. Mentions that it was his dream to play for the country and adds that he was not much nervous as he has played in the Indian T20 League. Praises Hardik Pandya for backing him and encouraging him. Mavi picks his first wicket as his best out of the four.
10.50pm  India will be delighted with the win here but will feel that they got out of jail. The debutant, Shivam Mavi set the tone early on as he picked up a wicket each in his first two overs. Hardik Pandya bowled three on the trot at the start and kept the Lankan batters pegged back. The Indian spinners failed to dominate the middle overs but the likes of Umran Malik and Harshal Patel were able to pick up timely wickets and ended up with two wickets each. Mavi came back to pick up two more, finishing with a four-fer on debut. With Pandya picking up a slight niggle, the task of bowling the final over was handed to Axar Patel and he just about managed to get his side over the line.
10.47pm  Sri Lanka will feel that this one got away. The target to chase down was not the biggest and they knew that a couple of solid knocks could take them over the line. However, their top order apart from Kusal Mendis completely faltered. The visitors kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and as has been the case in recent times, the onus was on the skipper Dasun Shanaka and the lower order to lead the fightback. That is exactly what happened as Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga stitched together a quick 40-run stand. Both of them got out but Chamika Karunaratne kept on fighting till the end and with 5 needed off 3 balls, it looked like he had done enough but sadly, it wasn't meant to be for Sri Lanka.
10.42pm  Unreal scenes as the crowd inside the Wankhede erupts! So close yet so far for Sri Lanka as Axar Patel holds his nerves and gets the job done for his side. Axar is flocked by his teammates who huddle around him and pat him on the head. But spare a thought for Chamika Karunaratne who put the Lankans ahead in the final over only to fall 2 runs short of the target. What a game!
Axar Patel to Chamika Karunaratne
OUT! Run out on the final ball as well. INDIA WIN BY 2 RUNS! Flatter delivery, it's fired in around middle, Chamika Karunaratne swings his bat hard but fails to get the desired connection. It tamely rolls down to deep mid-wicket and Chamika jogs to the other end in disappointment. His partner, Dilshan Madushanka, looks for the second run and is midway down the track. Deepak Hooda fires in the throw to the keeper this time and Ishan Kishan does the rest.
Dilshan Madushanka run out (Deepak Hooda / Ishan Kishan) 0 (0b 0x4 0x6)
10.39pm  Dilshan Madushanka is the last man in for Sri Lanka but he won't be on strike.
Axar Patel to Chamika Karunaratne
OUT! Run out at the non-striker's end! Fuller and on middle, Chamika flicks it to deep mid-wicket and has to go for the second run. Hooda throws the ball to the bowler who takes the bails off. Could have taken the gamble and thrown it to the keeper. Chamika Karunaratne is back on strike, 4 needed off the final ball.
Kasun Rajitha run out (Deepak Hooda / Axar Patel) 5 (4b 0x4 0x6)
Axar Patel to Chamika Karunaratne

10.37pm  There is a long conversation going on between skipper Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel. It seems quite animated as well and then the keeper Ishan Kishan joins in. After a bit of chat, Axar is good to bowl and play can resume.
Axar Patel to Chamika Karunaratne
SIX! High and handsome! 5 needed off 3 balls. Incredible shot. Quicker one, short and on middle, Chamika Karunaratne clears his front leg and muscles it over wide long on.

Over to Chamika Karunaratne now! Flatter and shorter on middle, helped to square leg for a run. 11 needed off 5 balls.
Axar Patel to Kasun Rajitha
Wide! Quicker one, short and down the leg side, Kasun Rajitha leaves.
10.33pm  Who will bowl the final over? It will be Axar Patel! He has gone for 21 runs so far in his 2 overs. Can he do the job for India?
Harshal Patel to Kasun Rajitha
Only a single, what did Chamika Karunaratne do there? Fuller and on middle, Kasun walks forward and knocks it down to long on. For some reason, they cross and it will be Rajitha on strike for the final over. 13 needed more.
Harshal Patel to Chamika Karunaratne
Just short! Short and wide outside off, slower in pace, Chamika Karunaratne chases and gets it away off the toe end. It flies down to long off but doesn't carry to the fielder. A single is taken.
Harshal Patel to Chamika Karunaratne
SIX! 15 needed off 8 balls. Chamika Karunaratne gets hold of this delivery. Picks the short ball and launches it over deep mid-wicket for a biggie. Tension building.
Harshal Patel to Kasun Rajitha
Full toss on middle, Kasun works it through backward square leg. Shivam Mavi sprints across to his right in the deep and saves a run.
Harshal Patel to Kasun Rajitha
Wide! Going down the leg side, on a length, Rajitha attempts to get a fine tickle but fails.
Harshal Patel to Chamika Karunaratne
Shortish and around off, Chamika plays a mistimed heave down to long on and gets only a run.
Harshal Patel to Chamika Karunaratne
NOT OUT! A high full toss on middle, Karunaratne pushes it down to long on and scampers back for the second run. It's called a no ball for a waist-high full toss. Meanwhile, there is a run-out appeal once Ishan breaks the stumps. The third umpire finds it fine. Free Hit coming up...
10.28pm  Is that a run out? The throw comes in from Sanju Samson who is stationed at long and it is at the striker's end. Ishan Kishan dislodges the bails as Chamika Karunaratne puts in the big dive. It is sent upstairs and the replays show that Chamika was well in. Not Out!
Harshal Patel to Chamika Karunaratne
A dipping yorker outside off, at 117.9 kph, Chamika Karunaratne strokes it to sweeper cover and declines the single.
10.26pm  Harshal Patel (3-0-25-2) to bowl the 19th over.
Shivam Mavi to Chamika Karunaratne
No fifer on debut but what an effort from Mavi. Back of a length outside off, at 134.8 kph, Chamika drops it with soft hands to point and retains strike. 29 needed off 12 balls.
Shivam Mavi to Kasun Rajitha
Fuller and on middle, angling down at 136 kph, Kasun Rajitha fails to flick and it goes off his pads to the leg side. They cross for a leg bye.
10.24pm  Kasun Rajitha walks out to bat now.
Shivam Mavi to Maheesh Theekshana
OUT! Maheesh Theekshana holes out and what a dream debut it is turning out to be for Shivam Mavi - fourth wicket for him! A delivery on a good length, around off at 132.1 kph, Maheesh hangs back to smash it down the ground but he gets more height than distance. An easy catch for Suryakumar Yadav at long off and Sri Lanka are nearing defeat now. 31 needed off 14 balls with two wickets left.
Maheesh Theekshana c S Yadav b S Mavi 1 (4b 0x4 0x6)
Shivam Mavi to Maheesh Theekshana
Slower one again, on a length at 120.8 clicks, Maheesh smacks it through the line but finds the fielder at extra cover.
Shivam Mavi to Maheesh Theekshana
Precious dot. Slower and shorter around off, Maheesh Theekshana is way too early with his attempted pull shot and misses.
Shivam Mavi to Chamika Karunaratne
A length delivery outside off, Chamika forces it down to long off for a single.
Umran Malik to Chamika Karunaratne
Fuller and on middle, at 149.3 clips, Chamika Karunaratne works it in front of square leg and picks up a single.
Umran Malik to Maheesh Theekshana
Around off, Maheesh Theekshana pushes inside the line and edges it down to third man for a single.
10.18pm  Maheesh Theekshana is the new man in.
Umran Malik to Dasun Shanaka
OUT! Is that the match? Umran Malik bowls it with a lot of fire. Clocks 155 kph and hurls it on a length outside off, Dasun Shanaka stays leg-side of this delivery as he attempts to hammer it through the line. His bat though turns in his gloves and it goes straight into the hands of Chahal at extra cover. That break in play due to the use of the DRS hampered Shanaka's momentum and he returns dejected. 34 needed off 20 balls.
Dasun Shanaka (c) c Y Chahal b U Malik 45 (27b 3x4 3x6)
Umran Malik to Dasun Shanaka
DRS time! It's for a caught behind and the original decision is not out. Umran Malik fires in a very full ball, around leg, Shanaka tries to dig it out but fails. It goes through his legs to the keeper who does well to collect it. He appeals but nothing from the umpire. Hardik Pandya has decided to take chance with the review. The third umpire is taking his time. He feels that it has taken the bottom edge but then bounced before going to Kishan. The right decision is made.
Umran Malik to Dasun Shanaka
SIX! What a pickup shot! Shanaka is the man for Sri Lanka. A little short in length, around middle, Dasun Shanaka sits back and heaves it over deep square leg. 34 needed off 22 balls.
Umran Malik to Dasun Shanaka
Dot ball. Width there outside off, short in length, at 148.5 kph, Shanaka slaps it to point where the fielder makes a fine stop. That was travelling and Hooda did well.
10.11pm  Umran Malik (3-0-19-1) is back on for his final over.
Harshal Patel to Dasun Shanaka
Short again, around off, pulled away on one bounce to deep mid-wicket for a run. 13 from the over, 40 needed off 24 balls. We are heading towards a tight finish here.

Harshal Patel to Chamika Karunaratne
A premeditated charge from Chamika as he receives the ball on the full and chips it behind the bowler. It drops wide of mid off and they cross.
Harshal Patel to Chamika Karunaratne
Lands it on a length, around off, it's punched off the back foot but straight to the short cover.
Harshal Patel to Dasun Shanaka
Sliding down the leg side, Dasun uses the angle and nudges it towards long leg. He runs the first run hard but that's all he will get.
Harshal Patel to Dasun Shanaka
SIX! High and handsome! Short in length and around off, Dasun Shanaka rides the bounce and hammer-pulls it in front of square on the leg side for a maximum. A great start to the over for the Lankans.

Shivam Mavi to Dasun Shanaka
Slower one, bowled into the pitch and over middle, this is pulled away through square leg for a single.
Shivam Mavi to Dasun Shanaka
Half an appeal for lbw but seems to be drifting down leg. Mavi bowls this one fuller and angles it into the pads. Dasun Shanaka looks to flick but misses and gets pinged on the pads. 10.04pm  Chamika Karunaratne walks in next.
Shivam Mavi to Wanindu Hasaranga
OUT! CAUGHT! Straight to the fielder and Wanindu Hasaranga fails to make use of the life he got just a couple of deliveries earlier. Shivam Mavi pitches it up around off stump and it is in the slot and there to be hit. Hasaranga backs away and goes deep in his crease but ends up toe-ending the lofted drive towards mid off. Hardik Pandya over there takes a simple catch around his face and Mavi gets his third wicket on debut. 55 needed now off 33 balls.
Wanindu Hasaranga c H Pandya b S Mavi 21 (10b 1x4 2x6)
Shivam Mavi to Dasun Shanaka
Good length outside off, this is eased away through cover-point for a single.
10.01pm  Play halted! Wanindu Hasaranga seems to have hurt himself with that awkward dive. The physio is in the middle. All good and Wanindu is back on his feet!
Shivam Mavi to Dasun Shanaka
What was Wanindu Hasaranga doing there? Mavi starts off with a slower one bowled into the deck and angled at the body. Dasun Shanaka looks to work it off his hips but gets an inside edge. The ball pops up off his hips and lands around the vacant short leg region. Hasaranga is almost at the striker's end when he is sent back. Mavi has to run around Hasaranga who is scampering back and has a shy at the stumps. Hasarnaga puts in the dive but Mavi misses, otherwise, it would have been curtains for the non-striker.

Seems like cramps, it's quite humid in Mumbai. Meanwhile, Wanindu Hasaranga has walked in next as Hardik Pandya exits with the physio to receive some treatment in the dugout. Suryakumar Yadav, his deputy, will be in charge for some time.
Harshal Patel to Bhanuka Rajapaksa
OUT! CAUGHT! Harshal Patel strikes now and Bhanuka Rajapaksa has to walk back. Harshal bowls this one a bit slower at 122.8 kph and pitches it up around the off pole. Rajapaksa has his weight on the back foot but he looks to transfer it forward and loft it down the ground. Rajapaksa gets the elevation but not the distance. Hardik Pandya, from mid off, shuffles back and takes a tumbling catch but seems to have pulled a muscle. Sri Lanka lose half their side and are in deep trouble at the moment.

9.38pm  Drinks break! Halfway through the chase and it is the home side, India who are in complete control of the game. Sri Lanka have lost four wickets and need 97 runs off 60 deliveries. The Indian pacers have been pretty good with skipper Hardik Pandya bowling probing lines early on, allowing Shivam Mavi to pick up the wickets from the other end. The Lankan batters have played a few loose shots as well. India scored plenty at the death and Sri Lanka can do the same but the pair of Dasun Shanaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa is vital for them. An exciting phase of play awaits.

Nissanka looks to flick but is through his shot early. The ball pops up off the leading edge to the right of mid off where Samson theatrically dives and grabs it with both hands. The ball pops out though as his elbows hit the ground hard. They get a run as well.

8.47pm  We're back. The Indian team is in a huddle near the boundary line with Hardik Pandya giving a pep talk. One question in everyone's mind - Will dew play a factor? Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka are the openers for Sri Lanka. Hardik Pandya to bowl the first over. Here we go...
8.47pm  ... CHASE TIME ...
8.44pm  The Lankan bowling, as mentioned earlier, was brilliant. They kept a leash on India's scoring rate and by picking wickets at regular intervals, they didn't allow the home team to recover. That said, in the last 5 overs, they took the foot off the pedal a bit and India managed to score freely. A venue that is considered to be a graveyard for the bowlers, all the Sri Lankan bowlers apart from Kasun Rajitha fared exceedingly well and now the onus is on their batters to gain the series lead. Let's see how they approach the chase...
8.42pm  India started like a train on fire. They fetched 17 runs from the opening over and it appeared that we are in for a run feast at the Wankhede. However, the introduction of Maheesh Theekshana stifled India's charge in the Powerplay and they ended up with only 41 runs for the loss of two wickets. Thereafter Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya tried to gain some rhythm with their partnership but both fell soon to leave India reeling. It was the unbeaten partnership between Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel (68* off 35 balls) that allowed India to at least get a fighting total on the board.
8.39pm  A decent recovery from India in the end overs, fetching 61 runs off the last 5 overs - but it's still a below-par score at this venue. Sri Lanka will be very satisfied with the way they bowled, especially in the first half and will be backing themselves to chase it down under supportive conditions.
Kasun Rajitha to Deepak Hooda
Well bowled! Kasun Rajitha comes from around the wicket for the final delivery and angles across a yorker around off. Deepak Hooda stays deep in his crease and plays it with an angled bat behind point for just a single. India finish with 162/5 on the board!

Dilshan Madushanka to Deepak Hooda

The ball goes off his pads and rolls toward backward point as they take a leg bye. There is half an appeal for lbw but the ball seems to be pitching outside the leg stump. Dasun Shanaka takes a late call for a review though. The UltraEdge is checked first and there's no bat involved. Ball Tracking shows that the ball is pitching in line but missing the stumps. The original decision stands.
8.29pm  Dilshan Madushanka is back into the attack as well to bowl the penultimate over.
Kasun Rajitha to Deepak Hooda
Good length, on off and this is knocked down to long on for a single. A great comeback over from Kasun.

Hardik Pandya has joined him with positive intent and the hosts will be relying on this pair to prepare the launching pad for the end overs. Sri Lanka have done a great job thus far but they cannot rest on their laurels. In this format, the momentum changes in the blink of an eye. Let's see how the next phase pans out.

Spin is proving to be effective here and we haven't even seen Wanindu Hasaranga bowl yet.

Asalanka puts in the dive and grabs it with both hands but the replays show that the ball clearly touched the ground.
7.36pm  Is that a clean catch? Charith Asalanka is unsure. His teammates are celebrating. The two umpires get together and then refer it upstairs. The soft signal is not out. It's grassed and the crowd roars.

OUT! CAUGHT! Chamika Karunaratne strikes with his very first delivery and India lose their second wicket inside the Powerplay. This is bowled on a good length outside off stump and at 128.9 clicks. Suryakumar Yadav shuffles across, trying to get inside the line of the ball and scoop it over short fine leg. SKY gets himself into a bit of a tangle and the ball lobs up in the air off the toe end of the bat. The ball lands down around short fine leg where Bhanuka Rajapaksa takes a simple catch after his initial reaction to run behind. A big breakthrough for Sri Lanka and Dasun Shanaka is delighted. Perhaps the lack of pace brought his downfall.

The two umpires are already out in the middle and the Lankan players also stride out to take their places on the field. Ishan Kishan will open the batting alongside Shubman Gill for India. Kasun Rajitha has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Let's play...
6.54pm  We are just a few minutes away from the start of the play. But first, the two sides walk out to the middle and line up for their respective national anthems as it is the first game of the series. It will be Sri Lanka's national anthem first followed by the Indian national anthem.
6.48pm  Ishan Kishan comes up for a quick chat! He starts by saying it's difficult to switch formats (was playing red-ball cricket recently) but it's important to do that at this level. Adds that he has played a lot of games here at the Wankhede and is aware of how the pitch behaves. Mentions that he just looks to watch the ball and play on merit. Tells that he is excited to play this series. States that he was very worried after Pant's accident and hopes that he recovers soon and returns.

6.35pm  India (Playing XI) - Shubman Gill (On T20I debut), Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya (C), Sanju Samson (WK), Deepak Hooda, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Shivam Mavi (On debut), Umran Malik and Yuzvendra Chahal.
6.34pm  Hardik Pandya, captaining India for the first time in this format at home, says that he is excited to lead the country and it is a special moment as well. Adds that they were going to bat first even though it is a chasing ground as they want to challenge themselves. Mentions that anyone who plays for the national team is the best and they have two debutants, Shivam Mavi and Shubman Gill. Mavi comes in the side to replace Arshdeep Singh who isn't available.
6.32pm  Dasun Shanaka, the captain of Sri Lanka, says that they want to bowl first as dew could be a factor later on. Adds that they have been doing well in this format, except for the T20 World Cup and they will look to follow the routine. Ajit Agarkar joins him and says that there's a true covering of grass and it will have an even bounce that will help the batters even further. Adds that there might be dew later on and it is going to be a tough night for the bowlers.
6.14pm  Given that it is the year in which the ODI World Cup is to be held, a T20I series might seem pointless but it also serves as a good opportunity to try out new players and keep the core players of the ODI side fresh by giving them a rest. With that said, there are a couple of big news coming from the Indian camp - Firstly, a fit-again Jasprit Bumrah has been added to the Indian roster for the ODI series against Sri Lanka which takes place after the T20I series. The second big update is that Shivam Mavi and Shubman Gill both will be making their T20I debuts in this game.
6.05pm  Sri Lanka have a few familiar faces returning to the T20I setup but there are some who have left out as well. Dasun Shanaka will once again lead the side in both the T20I and the ODI series and will be hoping for a change in fortune as he looks to beat the mighty Indian team at their home. It won't be easy but Sri Lanka are the reigning Asia Cup champions and have match-winners like Wanindu Hasaranga, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Pathum Nissanka on their side. The conditions will prove to be useful for the visitors as well and with the recent success of the 2022 Lanka Premier League behind them, the Lankans can notch up more than just an upset. So, will the touring side start off with a win? Or will India show why they are the top-ranked side in the world? We shall find out. Toss and team news in a bit.
6.02pm  India have a new-look T20I side for this series with Hardik Pandya leading the contingent and Suryakumar Yadav acting as his deputy. A lot of new faces, especially in the pace department have been added and also the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rahul Tripathi, Sanju Samson and Shubman Gill will look to impress the selectors and consolidate their place in the national setup. It remains to be seen whether all of these new faces get a chance to show their worth but with recent criticism of the white-ball side, it is a must-win series for the hosts in order to re-establish their status as one of the best T20I sides in the world.
6.00pm  Hello and a warm welcome ladies and gentlemen to the coverage of the 1st T20I between India and Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It is a brand new year, the year of the ODI World Cup and it is a brand new bilateral white-ball series between the two sub-continental nations. The Lankans have never won a bilateral T20I series in India and with a fairly young Indian side drafted for the series, the visitors have the best opportunity to change that stat. However, India's depth in this form of the game is unmatched and with home conditions behind them, the hosts will be up for the challenge.
5.59pm  ... MATCH DAY ...
27 Dec, 10.07am  Yet another action-packed year of cricket has flown by and it is now time for a new series to begin as India welcome Sri Lanka for a three-game T20I and a three-game ODI series. The T20I series is up first and the opening match of the series will take place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The hosts, India have been playing away from home for quite a while now but will begin 2023 with a home series and look to do well. As for the visitors, Sri Lanka, they haven't played international cricket since the end of November but most of their players will be fresh after a decent break and will be well-prepared as well due to the Lanka Premier League. The hosts have a new look to their side with Hardik Pandya being appointed as captain of the T20I series yet again. The likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan are mostly likely to feature as the opening pair for India. Umran Malik and Washington Sundar who also featured against New Zealand and Bangladesh in recent times have been given an extended go in the T20I series and it will be Arshdeep Singh who will lead the bowling for the hosts. There have been a couple of surprise additions to the pace armory as well with Shivam Mavi and Mukesh Kumar being called up for the T20I series. Sri Lanka have made a few changes from their last series against Afghanistan back in late November 2022. The likes of Dinesh Chandimal and Asitha Fernando have been left out even after good performances in the LPL. Dasun Shanaka will captain the side in both series and for the T20I series, it will be their star, Wanindu Hasaranga who will act as Shanka's deputy. Sri Lanka have also recalled Chamika Karunaratne and Avishka Fernando who was the top-scorer in LPL 2022. Another addition is that of Nuwan Thushara for the T20I series and one might say that he has completely deserved it. The visitors are the reigning Asia Cup champions but they couldn't transform the same form in the T20 World Cup and will need to play at their best at all times to snatch a win off the hosts who have been dominant in bilateral T20I series at home in the past year or so. India are a team that is going through a bit of change with senior players being rested or being used for just one format of the game and they will try to form a base for the side that can take them into the next T20 World Cup in 2024. With both sides looking to start off the new year with a win, it is the hosts who have a stranglehold when it comes to recent bilateral series between these two nations. Will India continue to show their dominance in bilateral T20I series at home? Or will their sub-continental counterparts rise up to the challenge and start off with a win? We shall find out.
